At Paternity For Life, we are following all advice provide by both the UK Government, local health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO) and taking extra precautionary steps to ensure the health and safety of our laboratory staff and customer service team to minimise any disruption to testing
Please be advised our laboratory is still operational, and we are currently not experiencing any delays with processing of samples.
For our Legal Collection Appointments, Paternity For Life recommends using WJ Legal. WJ Legal is a Legal Forensic Sampling Company who can attend your home address for collection of your sample. All WJ Legal Sample Collectors are forensically aware and can safely and hygienically take all needed samples. Our collectors already enforce strict hygiene practices during collections but will be taking extra precautions over the coming weeks including the use of gloves, face masks and sterile wipes.
That being said, if you are experiencing any virus-like symptoms or have travelled overseas in the past 14 days, we recommend delaying your collection or rescheduling your appointment to a later date.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly staff on 0330 133 1944

1. Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test (NIPPT)
A Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test can determine paternity with 99.9% accuracy, using a blood sample from the mother and a mouth swab from the alleged father. Our test is highly advanced, and the most accurate on the market. It analyses over 5,000 genetic markers, known as Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), to determine paternity with 99.9% accuracy.
2. Baby Gender DNA Test
Are you expecting a boy or a girl? Find out from as early as 10 weeks! The Baby Gender DNA test is the only way to accurately and scientifically determine gender much earlier in your pregnancy. Using only a blood sample from the expecting mother, we can determine the gender of your baby with 98% accuracy.
3. Prenatal Chromosomal Abnormality Screening (NIFTYTM)
NIFTYTM is a highly accurate and risk free, non-invasive prenatal screening test for chromosomal abnormalities, available from as early as the 10th week of pregnancy. All that is required is a blood sample from the mother to screen for chromosomal conditions including trisomies, such as Down Syndrome and Edwards Syndrome, Sex Chromosomal Aneuploidies and Deletion/Duplication Syndromes in the unborn baby. Our NIFTYTM Prenatal Chromosomal Abnormality Screening test also includes gender determination.
Please note, due to the nature of this test, a doctor’s referral is required.
Our Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test is validated from 7 Weeks Gestational Age. However, optimal testing is from 10 Weeks Gestational Age (this means you will be in your 10th week of pregnancy, starting from the first day of your last menstrual period).
For the Baby Gender DNA Test and Prenatal Chromosomal Abnormality Screening (NIFTYTM), you must be at least 10 weeks pregnant. Therefore, we recommend you wait until you are at least 10 weeks pregnant before having both blood samples collected.
If you provide a sample too early, or you have incorrectly calculated your gestational age, there will not be enough fetal DNA for us to perform testing. This is why optimal testing is from 10 weeks gestational age. In these cases, we will request a recollection at a later gestational age, to ensure there is more fetal DNA in the mother’s blood. To determine your gestational age contact us or your doctor.
Our prenatal tests are non-invasive, and all we require from the mother is 2 x blood samples, taken via a standard blood draw. This method of testing is much safer for both the mother and the unborn child. Other prenatal testing methods can be invasive and can come with risks such as miscarriage and leakage of amniotic fluid.
For our non-invasive prenatal paternity test, we also require 2 x mouth swabs taken from the alleged father. Paternity For Life will send you out a testing kit that contains everything you need for sample collection, along with clear instructions.
Please note that a trained medical professional, such as a doctor or nurse, will need to collect the blood sample. If you are having trouble arranging collection, please contact us and we can help you to find a phlebotomist in your area. Please note that an additional fee may be charged by your sample collector. This fee is not included in the cost of testing and must be paid directly to the sample collector.
Upon receiving your samples at our laboratory, we will promptly begin processing. We endeavour to have your results to you within 15 working days from receipt of your samples at our laboratory. Please note that results may not necessarily be available at the same time.
